Itinerary

Itinerary

The itinerary begins in Venice, with urban and night photography in its most iconic canals and squares, before heading into the Dolomites for six days of landscape photography: Val di Funes, Seceda, Lago di Braies, Tre Cime di Lavaredo and the Passo Giau, among others.

Meeting at Marco Polo Airport (VCE) at 10 AM.

We drop off our luggage and head to the center by vaporetto or water taxi.

First photo session at the Rialto Bridge and the Grand Canal, with gondolas and palaces reflected in the water.

In the afternoon, Piazza San Marco, the Palazzo Ducale and the Bridge of Sighs.

At sunset we position ourselves at Riva degli Schiavoni to capture the gondolas with San Giorgio Maggiore in the background and the last light over the Basilica of Santa Maria della Salute from the Accademia Bridge.

The night gives us the magic of San Marco lit up, reflections in the canals and, if there is acqua alta, the flooded square mirroring the basilica.

Group dinner: Venetian cuisine with cicchetti, risotto al nero di seppia and pasta e fagioli.

Accommodation: Voco Venice Mestre

Departure north (~3h) via the A4 and A22.

Stop at Lago di Carezza, with its emerald waters and the Latemar massif reflected.

Check-in in Ortisei and lunch.

In the afternoon, our first serious session in the Dolomites: the church of Santa Maddalena in Val di Funes with the Odle massif lit by the last golden light, autumn meadows and larches in the foreground.

If the sky cooperates, a night session with the mountain silhouettes as a backdrop.

Accommodation: Hotel in Ortisei

Departure before dawn to the chapel of San Giovanni in Ranui, one of the most iconic images of the Dolomites: the bulbous dome facing the Odle massif at blue hour and first golden light.

By mid-morning we take the cable car up to Seceda (2,500 m) for a session among the alpine spires, with frequent morning mist that adds drama.

In the afternoon we move to the Passo delle Erbe, a viewpoint overlooking Sass de Putia with exceptional side light in autumn.

Accommodation: Hotel in Ortisei

Early start to the largest alpine plateau in Europe before they close the road.

With luck, morning mist covering the meadows with the Langkofel massif in the background.

After lunch in Ortisei, we drive the spectacular route of the Passo Gardena and the Passo Falzarego to Cortina d'Ampezzo.

On arrival, a sunset session at the Passo Giau: 360° views with the Marmolada, the Tofane, the Cristallo and the iconic Ra Gusela among golden larches.

If the sky is clear, the minimal light pollution at 2,236 m makes this the best spot of the trip for astrophotography.

Accommodation: Hotel in Cortina d'Ampezzo

Very early departure to the most famous lake in the Dolomites: emerald waters, the wooden jetty, the boats and the limestone peaks reflected in the calm water at dawn.

On the way back, a stop at Lago di Dobbiaco and Lago di Landro, a hidden gem with reflections that rival Braies.

After lunch, an editing session or rest at the hotel.

In the afternoon, we climb to the Cadini di Misurina viewpoint: dozens of limestone spires emerging from a forest of golden larches, one of the most dramatic landscapes of the trip.

Accommodation: Hotel in Cortina d'Ampezzo

Sunrise at the Cinque Torri: a 30-minute walk to the five limestone towers that light up spectacularly with the first light, with larches and peaks in the background.

At midday we move to Tre Cime di Lavaredo for the quintessential photographic circuit of the Dolomites: a panoramic walk to the Rifugio Locatelli with stops at tarns, the Cappella degli Alpini and Forcella di Lavaredo.

Sunset lights up the three peaks from the north in one of the most extraordinary scenes of the trip.

On the way back, blue hour at Lago Antorno and Lago di Misurina.

Accommodation: Hotel in Cortina d'Ampezzo

Sunrise at Lago di Misurina.

The morning is free to stroll around Cortina d'Ampezzo, host of the Winter Olympics, or for an editing session.

In the afternoon, we go up to the Passo Falzarego for a short walk to Lago di Limides, which reflects the Tofana di Rozes and Monte Lagazuoi in the last light.

Farewell group dinner.

Accommodation: Hotel in Cortina d'Ampezzo

Last sunrise of the trip: Passo Giau if there are high clouds and color, Lago di Misurina if it is calm for reflections.

Return to the hotel, breakfast and check-out.

A relaxed transfer to Marco Polo Airport (~2h 30min).

Recommended flights from 4 PM.
