Tuscany and Cinque Terre offer an incredible mix of old-world towns, beautiful hills and spectacular coastline in the region known as the cradle of the Italian Renaissance.

When you think of Tuscany, your imagination immediately conjures up romantic images of rolling green hills covered in mist, cobbled streets lined with tall elegant cypress trees, and traditional meals with rich local cheeses and wines.

Tuscany is all this and much more. No wonder Tuscany's rich colours, textures and history have inspired artists for centuries. This workshop will give you a true taste of Tuscany by introducing you to some of its most iconic places and also some of its hidden gems.

Our photographic workshop takes place during the most idyllic time of the year, when the iconic mists are frequent, the rolling hills are at their most lush and the countryside is covered in wildflowers. Every day we will chase the elusive mist, the golden light and some of the best dishes the region has to offer. This is not just a photography workshop, it is a fully immersive experience you will never forget.

This workshop is designed for amateur photographers of all levels, and you can count on the personalised guidance of our professional photographers.

All our expert knowledge will be used to ensure that we find the best compositions and moments of light in Tuscany, so that you will have a comfortable and enriching experience. 

This is just a small taste of what we will experience in Tuscany before we head to Cinque Terrea coastal region encompassing five villages that hug the spectacular coastline.

We will always be available to provide technical support and guidance, and at the end of this workshop, you will leave with a beautiful collection of images, new advanced photography techniques, and epic memories to last a lifetime!

DAY 1 (01-05-22).

We will meet at 16:00 hours at our hotel in Florencefollowed by dinner and an evening photo session by the river Arno.

 

DAY 2 (02-05-22).

We will rise early to photograph the sunrise over the city.

We will take photographs from the path along the river Arno and from the ponte Alle Graziewith the Ponte Vecchio as the main subject.

After, Piazzale Michelangelowhich has a magnificent view of the whole city of Florence.

We will spend the rest of the day in San Gimignano and in the surrounding hills, vineyards and olive groves.

 

DAY 3 (03-05-22).

Sunrise at Belvederein the centre of the Orcia ValleyWe will photograph the great views, the rolling hills, the small villages and the scattered hamlets typical of this area.

After breakfast, we will spend the rest of the morning exploring the area between San Quirico d'Orcia and Pienza. San Quirico d'Orcia and Pienza.

We may encounter some of the wild animals that live in the area, such as deer and falcons. We will spend the afternoon photographing the many beautiful buildings and churches of Pienza, as well as the wonderful views of the surrounding hills.

Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Pienza was rebuilt in the 15th century as an ideal Renaissance town. Intended as a refuge from Rome, it represents the first application of humanist town-planning concepts, which eventually spread to other European centres. 

The sunset will be in the Chapel of Vitaleta, a small country church on the top of a hill in the countryside between Pieza and San Quirico d'Orcia.

 

DAY 4 (04-05-22).

At dawn, we will be in Terrapillejust at the base of the hill on which the village of Monticchiello.

It is a beautiful rural area with fields of crops and rapeseed, beautiful old buildings and some ponds, perfect for photographing the reflections at sunrise.

After breakfast, we will spend the rest of the morning exploring the area known as the Cretaiolewhere there are magnificent views of the Val D'orcia hills, with Pienza often in the background.

We will photograph the countryside surrounding Castiglione d'Orcia. From the medieval castle in the centre of the village, we will have a fantastic view of the valley.

We will then move on to Bagno Vignoniand walk through the narrow streets of this small, perfectly preserved medieval village, with the beautiful facades of its buildings reflected in the thermal baths in the town centre, known as the "square of the fountains".

Later we will return to Pienza and stop at Belvedere for a sunset photo opportunity.

 

DAY 5 (05-05-22).

Photo session at sunrise in "La Foce", on the road between Pienza and Chianciano. on the road between Pienza and Chianciano. From an excellent vantage point along the road, we will photograph what is probably the most famous zig-zag road in Italy, with Monte Amiata in the background.

We then drive along this zig-zagging road until we reach the top of a hill, for a magnificent 360° view of the Orcia valley, Mount Amiata and the towns of Chianciano, Pienza, Radicofani and Contignano. 

After breakfast, we drive to Montalcino, another beautiful medieval town famous for its tasty full-bodied Brunello wine.

From the towers of the fortress in the city centre, the view is simply breathtaking.

After lunch, we will go to the Abbey of Sant'Antimoan ancient monastery, which is located in a beautiful valley and is surrounded by vineyards and olive trees.

This day's sunset will be probably the most photographed group of trees in the world, a few steps from the road between Montalcino and San Quirico. Montalcino and San Quirico.

 

DAY 6 (06-05-22).

We will photograph again in the area of Val d'Orciawhere there are many incredible sunrise compositions.

As always, we will chase the waves of fog, to find the perfect compositions.

Today, as on other days, our schedule will be quite flexible in order to take advantage of the best weather and light conditions.

In the afternoon we will go to Montalcinoto photograph the historic stone walls and streets during a blue hour session.

 

DAY 7 (07-05-22).

After sunrise and breakfast, we will drive to Cinque Terre, where we will photograph the sunset on the waters of the Ligurian Sea, and then along the path linking the five villages.

After dinner, we will be able to photograph Riomaggiore by night.

 

DAY 8 (08-05-22).

We got up early for a short train ride to Riomaggiore.

We will photograph the sun rising behind the beach cliffs, with the surf and waves crashing in the foreground. Also the beautiful multi-coloured pebbles found here, an ideal subject for abstracts.

After breakfast, we will photograph the small harbour, the cobalt blue fishing boats, the small alleys of the city centre and the tall buildings painted in the bright colours of the Ligurian style. 

After lunch, we will walk along the Sentiero dell'Amore (Path of Love), and photograph the rugged coastline and cliffs along the path.

We will spend the rest of the afternoon in Manarolawith its colourful fishermen's houses clinging to the steep cliffs, and its tiny harbour.

It is probably the most picturesque of the five villages. We will wait for sunset on the reefs below the harbour. This is a wonderful place for high-impact seascapes, with swells, crashing waves and beautiful swirls produced by the undertow.

 

DAY 9 (09-05-22).

Sunrise in Manarolawhere we will photograph the colourful fishermen's houses, the town's small harbour and the waves breaking on the reefs and cliffs surrounding the harbour.

After breakfast, we will take the train to Corniglia (the only village in the Cinque Terre without direct access to the sea), which is located on top of a promontory with a beautiful view of the Ligurian Sea.

Then we go to Vernazzawith breathtaking views of the sea and the cliffs. We will spend the rest of the day photographing in and around Vernazza.

 

DAY 10 (10-05-22).

Sunrise in Vernazza at the harbour, with more brightly coloured fishermen's houses and waves breaking on the cliffs.

After breakfast, we will head to Florence airport for our return flight (any time after 16:00h).

Places will not be reserved without a deposit.

Final Payment:

Payment of the final amount is due 45 days before the start of the trip.

 

General Cancellation Policy:

In the event that you are unable to participate in the Photography Trip and cancel your participation, refunds will be handled as follows:

More than 6 weeks before the start of the trip: 100% will be reimbursed minus a $450 handling fee.

Less than 6 weeks before the start of the workshop: no refunds will be given.

 

COVID-19 Cancellation Policy:

In case you test positive for COVID-19 and cannot make the trip, we will refund 100% of the money paid to date including the booking deposit. The test confirming the result must be presented.

 

In case of force majeure:

In the event of achange in tourist entry regulations due to COVID-19 policies in Iceland, weather, mechanical problems , accident or illness and the workshop cannot be held in its entirety, Namaste Photo Tours will negotiate directly with participants to arrange a new date or a refund in the event that the participant is unable to attend the new date.

3.A. Respect and patience are the basis of a successful Photographic Journey. Participants may be at different levels of knowledge of the subject matter, so patience is required when explaining topics that are already in their domain. Each participant's area of photographing should be respected. No disrespect from a participant to another member of the trip or staff will be allowed.

4. Climate:

4.A. The tour and its itinerary are weather dependent and may change from one moment to the next. We will always keep an eye on the best weather conditions to determine where to go and to optimise your photography.

ITINERARY
DAY 1 (01-05-22).

We will meet at 16:00 hours at our hotel in Florencefollowed by dinner and an evening photo session by the river Arno.

 

DAY 2 (02-05-22).

We will rise early to photograph the sunrise over the city.

We will take photographs from the path along the river Arno and from the ponte Alle Graziewith the Ponte Vecchio as the main subject.
