Yangon (also called Rangoon) is the main city of Burma/Myanmar and the economic center of the country. Located in the south, it was the national capital from the 18th to the early 21st century, when the capital was moved to Naypyidaw (2006). Yangon is the most populated city (more than five million people).

Although it is several centuries old, it was during the British rule (mid 19th century - 1948) when the city was designed as we know it today, with straight and perpendicular streets, especially in the area known as 'Downtown'.

Afterwards, we will enjoy a walk through "Downtown", the oldest area of Yangon with the aim of admiring the buildings of the colonial era (19th century - 1948) when the city was the capital of the former British colony of Burma. Yangon, in fact, has the largest number of buildings from the colonial period in Southeast Asia. Besides, we will find, depending on the time, different flea markets.

The Secretary Office was the seat of the colonial government and the administrative centre of British Burma; it is located in the centre of Yangon (Burma) and has a special symbolism for the Burmese as it was also the place where "the father of independence", Aung San, and six members of his cabinet were killed in July 1947 in the final stretch of the process that would lead to Myanmar's independence.

Afterwards, we will visit Kandawgyi Lake, to admire the fantastic and mythological Karaweik's boat, besides being one of the beautiful green areas where the Yangonese usually go to relax.

Then we go to see the great reclining Buddha of Chaukhtatgyi, one of the largest in the world. Next, we visit the Shwedagon Pagoda, the most important and revered religious monument in the country. It is a large Buddhist complex dominated by its large central stupa which houses several hairs of the Buddha. The enclosure includes many shrines and images of Buddha and is really impressive.
