Situated inside the Arctic Circle, the Lofoten Islands are Lofoten Islands offer spectacular opportunities for photographers. We will enjoy the dramatic scenery, the incredible fjords, the crystal clear sea against a backdrop of gigantic mountains and the authentic fishing life in well-preserved old fishing villages.

It is no coincidence that National Geographic considers Lofoten to be the third most beautiful island group in the world. The light can be extremely beautiful during the winter, offering prolonged sunrises and sunsets due to the low angle of the sun.

As the sunlight fades, the aurora borealis aurora borealis can dance in the sky, and we will be ready to capture this unearthly spectacle.

Here you can experience the Aurora Borealis in all its splendor, flowing over arctic beaches and rugged fjords.

Day 1 (05-02-2024) Lekness - Reine

We will be waiting for you at the airport in Leknes, and then we will move to our cabin in the beautiful village of Reine.

In the event of aurora borealis forecast , we will go out to catch them!

Day 2 (06-02-2024)

Today we will travel to the beaches of Haukland and Vik (Approx. 55km), where we will photograph the first light of day.

Day 3 (07-02-2024)

On the fourth day of our photographic journey we will enjoy the sunrise lights and look for the best frames in the vicinity of Hamnoy and Reine .

In the evening, if we are lucky enough to have a favourable aurora forecast, we will visit the Skagsanden beach (.25km).

Day 4 (08-02-2024)

This morning, we will make the sunrise near our cabin, around Reine - Hamnøy , trying to find the best places to photograph the first rays of sun on the impressive peaks.

After a break and lunch, we will go to Flakstad (25km), with its snow-white coastline and the small but unforgettable fishing village of Nusfjord one of the oldest in the world.

On the way to Nusfjord we plan to visit another impressive place, the frozen lake of Storvatnet with crunchy ice.

Depending on the weather, we will be able to photograph the sunset on the beach of Vareid or at Haukland The latter is especially interesting in winter, when the setting sun paints the snow-capped peaks a deep red.

Day 5 (09-02-2024)

We will meet the first rays of the morning sun at the viewpoint over the Reine, from here we will have a perfect view over the Olstinden peak, as well as over the village itself and its bay.

Weather conditions

The Lofoten Islands are known for their stormy weather. Although on the one hand you should prepare yourself for these types of conditions, on the other hand stormy weather creates incredible scenes of nature and can sometimes provide amazing light.

The average temperature in Lofoten is about 0°C. Sometimes the temperature can drop to -7 C (rarely...), but don't relax! the winds and the sea, make the sensation much colder (-5 or -10).
